Balancing Ethics, Safety, and Compassion in Crisis Care

When a client is in crisis, every decision matters. Clinicians are often faced with balancing ethical responsibility, personal safety, and the need for the least restrictive interventions — all while maintaining patient dignity and trust.

This engaging ethics presentation, The Ethics of Crisis Intervention, explores the complex decisions mental health professionals face when navigating:

  • The use of new emergency detention forms

  • Determining when and how to involve law enforcement

  • Clarifying family involvement in crisis care

  • Managing acute crisis situations while upholding ethical and clinical standards

This session will bring clarity to gray areas, practical tools for decision-making, and insight into ethically sound, legally defensible approaches to crisis intervention.
